About Me.
I was born and raised in Ohio. And yes, it was as boring as it sounds. After debating between college and art school, I decided to do neither and began working at a structural steel company fabricating bridges. Eventually (three years later), I realized that I needed to go to college and become a math teacher. The break between high school and college worked for me. I knew what I wanted to pursue in college and I had also matured enough to be successful in college. Everyone has their own path and mine had a few detours.
I started college at a branch of The Ohio State University and two years later had to transfer due to the level of Mathematics courses needed to finish my degree. I had to choose between the main campus or transferring to the University of Toledo where I had friends with an open room. I chose to transfer and that set me back. Ohio State had been on quarters while Toledo was on a semester schedule. This messed my credits up and required me to take extra classes to make up the differences. At Toledo, I earned a Bachelors in Secondary Education and a Bachelors in Mathematics. I was also a part of UT3 which was a program designed to prepare math and science teachers to teach in large, urban schools.
After college, I was ready to get out of Ohio and the snow so I applied everywhere along the coast and ended up getting hired by Savannah Chatham County Public School Systems. I moved to Savannah and taught there for the past seven years. It was time for a change and upon visiting schools in Cobb County, I decided this is where I needed to be. I am looking forward to my first year at Sprayberry High School.
